Dinner with Degas, Celebrating Degas’ 180th Birthday
Celebrate Edgar Degas’ 180th Birthday at our monthly “Dinner with Degas”, featuring Degas’ depiction of “The Song Rehearsal” painting, created in the Grand Parlors where the dinner is held. “Art imitating life” in these very same parlors, comes full circle, as dinner guests are entertained in much the same manner as Degas’ maternal family during the artist’s 1872 six month visit here on historic Esplanade Avenue, where today, “Life imitating Art” is the order of the day. The dinner consists of 7-9 courses from the 1885 Lafcadio Hearn’s Creole Cookbook, interpreted by Chef Alyson Vega. Entertainment by Pianist Harry Mayronne and other possible entertainers yet to confirm. Arrival drinks include an Absinthe Cocktail, followed by a desert Port with the last course. Guests are encouraged to bring their favorite wine or beverage as a pairing to the menu, soon to announced on our website.
Free parking at 2401 Esplanade Avenue corner Esplanade, behind the Musician’s Union Hall, signs directing in the neutral ground. Security by the NOPD.
